Mommies’ Dinner – Our First Year with Many More to Come…

Today the Mommy Dinner Group closed out its first year.  For the big (food) blow-out, I decided to test a new Christmas menu on the ladies and solicit their feedback.  Our family Christmas dinner menu doesn’t change much from year to year.  There are the “must-haves” of standing rib roast and popovers, Kurt’s Christmas pasta and some kind of chocolate dessert.  Continue reading

The Vivace Orchestra, Shrimp Scampi and Artichokes Cooked in White Wine Bouillon

Yesterday, Kurt, my mom and my sister attended the Winter Strings Concert at Ken’s middle school.  There were three orchestras: the Allegro (beginner), Presto (intermediate) and Vivace (advanced).  We’ve heard the middle school orchestras previously when the grade school area orchestra held their concert at the same time as the middle school.  Continue reading

Pork ‘n’ Beans, Italian-Style!

It has been unseasonably warm around Washington, DC the past two days.  So warm that I was able to do some additional clean-up by our front walkway in preparation for putting up our Christmas lights (giant candy canes).  I still have to finalize what I’m making for the year-end Mommy Dinner this Saturday, but I’m leaning towards trying out some new dishes that I want to serve for our family Christmas dinner.
