Christmas Day Cooking!

Table

Yesterday was a blast.  Ken woke us at 7:10 AM and we opened gifts.  I always prepare one of those overnight casseroles for Christmas breakfast so I can chill with the rest of the family while the food bakes in the oven.  Continue reading

My Own Taco Soup WITHOUT the Packaged Seasoning!

I just can’t write about baking any more, even though I still have a few cookies to make– the rest of the sugar cookies for Ken and Grace to frost when she’s here, bourbon balls for my brother-in-law Jeff, more anise un-puffs and amaretti cookies (if I can find the brand of almond paste I like– the one in the can, not the plastic-wrapped tube like pre-cooked polenta– YUCK). Pork ‘n’ Beans, Italian-Style!

It has been unseasonably warm around Washington, DC the past two days.  So warm that I was able to do some additional clean-up by our front walkway in preparation for putting up our Christmas lights (giant candy canes).  I still have to finalize what I’m making for the year-end Mommy Dinner this Saturday, but I’m leaning towards trying out some new dishes that I want to serve for our family Christmas dinner.

Tonight’s dinner Continue reading
